AN ORTHOPAEDIC ELBOW SPLINT
The eXo Elbow of Jake Design is an orthopaedic splint, a shell to protect and stabilize the anatomical structure of the elbow following injury or surgery.

COMFORT
& ANGLE
The eXo Elbow is preshaped to the anatomy of the elbow and arm. It protects the elbow in an angle of 70°, which has been determined to be the most comfortable resting angle of the human elbow. This makes the eXo Elbow very comfortable to wear.
The eXo Elbow is made in one piece, making it extremely strong whilst still allowing for some flexibility, decreasing the risk of pressure points to the arm. The excellent bending properties allow the splint to be much thinner than a plaster cast, decreasing weight and minimizing stress on the shoulder and neck. A traditional plaster cast weighs between 500 and 1070 grams.
The smaller size eXo Elbow only weighs 118 grams and even the larger size eXo Elbow still only weighs a fraction of a traditional cast with a weight of 195 grams.
EASE OF USE
& TIMESAVER
The eXo Elbow is easy to apply with 4 hook and loop fasteners. The eXo Elbow splint is easy to apply and saves time in the emergency room or operating theater.
The straps can be loosened if swelling occurs or tightened once swelling decreases. The eXo Elbow can be taken off and reapplied as many times as needed for example for consultation, wound care, sleeping, stretching, or mobilizing, depending on the instructions of the doctor. Once instructed, patients can easily adjust the device independently, without the help of others.
FIXATION
The hook and loop fasteners are used for the fixation of the splint. The straps have a proven track record. The main advantage over a cohesive bandage is the possibility to loosen and tighten the fasteners. This makes it fast and easy to apply and in case of swelling of the arm, the splint can easily be loosened to avoid compression. In some indications the splint needs to be removed and reapplied several times per day e.g. wound care, dressing changes, neurovascular exam or exercises.
HYGIENE
The material of the eXo Elbow is washable and has a high chemical and bacterial resistance making it a very hygienic solution. When needed or preferred by the patient, it is easy to clean the eXo Elbow with a common soap or detergent.
Compared to other splints and casts, the eXo Elbow will not give an unpleasant odor.
